Formed: Seattle, WA 2003

Raised in a musical family, Dana Ashley and her brother Jamie began writing and recording songs in high school. While in college, they formed the lo-fi pop group The Castles. After releasing a few self-produced albums, the two siblings split, focusing on solo efforts, Dana’s newly formed The Pink Cloud and Midnight Sky and Jamie’s (jamie's group). Jamie would later go on to join ASR artist Good Luck Have Fun!. 2003 saw the release of the first PCMS album Vanish. The album’s favorable reception and the group’s rising popularity led to lablemates Darker Sparks’ pursuit of Dana. This caused the dissolution of the first PCMS lineup as she was “stolen” away to Chicago to join Darker Sparks. The tensions within Darker Sparks proved a poor foundation for Dana and personality clashes and bouts of hard drinking ensued causing a general implosion and stranding Dana in the “Windy City.”

After the abrupt move to Chicago, Dana was forced to assemble a new band. Work began on the next album Claire and an a single was released in September of 2005.
